The Land-Based Aquaculture Report 2023 (3rd Edition) is a global database and detailed report about all significant projects that employ recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) or hybrid flow-through technology to grow fish and shellfish. The report combines our analysis of proprietary Spheric Research data, and conversations with senior industry executives, to identify the latest trends in the land-based aquaculture industry. 

The report tracks capital inflows into modern salmon farming companies using RAS and hybrid flow-through technology over the last five years. We provide a complete database on post-smolt systems, which increasingly underpin the conventional netpen salmon farming industry. The database includes all significant projects for other fish species such as sturgeon, seabass, and yellowtail. We also cover landbased projects that are pioneering the farming of novel species such as crab, octopus, squid and even sea urchins. 

The report is divided into five main data sections:
grow-out salmon RAS projects, hybrid flow-through projects, salmon post smolt facilities, indoor shrimp farming, and other species.

We provide detailed profiles of all salmon projects by stage of development (conceptual, permitted, underconstruction, or operational). For shrimp and other species, we profile most of the major actors. Each chapter includes written analysis, data sets and a feature article.
