Fewer words, More data
The report breaks down the data into value and volumes, with a list of the
60 largest importers ranked by volume and
contact details for 60% of the top 80 importers.
It includes charts showing the largest exporting countries, and a
month-by-month breakdown of imports into China in value and volumes, and average prices.
The charts reveal that
Norway is comfortably the largest exporter of mackerel to China. Much of this is likely bound to
Japan, the biggest buyer of Norwegian mackerel.
However, Norway has seen its dominance challenged in 2014, as the
United Kingdom, Ireland and the
Faroe Islands have emerged from being insignificant suppliers in 2013 to becoming key importers the following year. This has reduced Norway's market share significantly, from 85% to less than
two-thirds.
In the excel version, you also find all import/export dates, quantities, prices, delivery points and detailed description of goods.
The raw data also specifies the
trade flow of the imports, splitting volumes into storage transit, inbound transactions, and so on.
